Artist's Statement
"I am a ceramic artist living and working in Battle Ground, Washington who does both handbuilt and wheel-thrown work. I love gardening and feel a strong connection with nature. My designs reflect nature or leaves and flowers, many of which are found in my garden, and are carved, imprinted or added onto the clay when it is still moist. Each design is original and intended to compliment the form of the work. Following the initial firing to dry the clay, the finished work is covered with a colored transparent or matt glaze that enhances the design and then fired in an electric kiln. The glaze pools into the depressions created and outlines the design."
"Many of my pieces can be used for arranging or displaying flowers. They are completely sealed and will hold water. I try to create unusual openings that will allow you to arrange your flowers in an entirely different way. Experiment!"
"Each piece I create is one-of-a-kind and unique. Whether you are reminded of your garden, your mother’s garden or just a special place you visited, I hope you will enjoy my work for years to come. "
