Board Decisions

The Arts Center Endowment, Inc. had its beginnings in 1989, through a generous donation from Ruby Scoblick. Ruby believed deeply in the arts and the contribution they make to develop a sense of community. Over the years others have joined with her vision, growing the endowment through their pledges. In 1991 the community leaders, Jim and Ruth Howland, established a separate Howland Foundation Fund to support the purchase of public art and to support artist awards for our annual Howland Community Open exhibition. In 2002 a restricted fund was established to support arts education programs.

The Corvallis Art Center Endowment Fund, Inc. was formally established in July 2000 to manage the restricted and unrestricted, named and general endowed funds of the Corvallis Art Center for the long-term cultural benefit of our community. We follow financial policies that will fit the needs and interests of our community from today well into the future. In 2003, the name of the organization was changed to ArtCentric Endowment, Inc. Then, in 2008, it was renamed The Arts Center Endowment, Inc.

General Fund

This fund was started with the intention of supporting the operations of The Arts Center. All unspecified donations go into this fund. The Endowment Board is directed through its by-laws to pay a minimum of 5% of this fund to The Arts Center annually for discretionary use. Other amounts are occasionally paid to The Arts Center for specific requests. See the Endowment Operating Manual for a specific voting procedure. Anyone may contribute to the General Fund.

The Howland Fund

This fund supports the Howland Community Open awards and funds public art projects anywhere in Corvallis. A perennial favorite award has been for Alley Art projects. Anyone may contribute to the Howland Fund.

Elizabeth Starker Cameron Arts Education Fund

This fund supports art education in Benton and Linn Counties. In 2003, The Arts Center began paying one-half of the funding for a one-week artist residency in any Corvallis or Albany elementary school. Anyone may contribute to the Elizabeth Starker Cameron Arts Education Fund.

The Bob & Kitty Bunn ArtsCare Fund

Offers support for both performing and visual artists in healthcare settings in Benton and Linn Counties. This was intended to be broad and to leave great discretion as to the definition of an artist and art. A progressive collaboration with Samaritan Health Services allows The Arts Center to support ArtsCare programs both within and outside of their health system. Anyone may contribute to the Bob & Kitty Bunn ArtsCare Fund.

Donations to The Arts Center Endowment, Inc. can be made via many methods including direct contributions, stock gifts, or bequests. If you would like a copy of our investment policy or other information about the Endowment, please contact the Executive Director, Sara Swanberg.
