Joey Azul on the Corrine Woodman Gallery exhibit June 2010:"The Mindfulness project is a response to two influences in my life. The first is Pablo Neruda's book of Poetry: "Odes to Common Things". The second is the precept of Asian Life Philosophies that advocates mindfulness as a way to enhance and deepen life experience.   So it was, one rainy winter day in Oregon that I recorded every item I touched, or used, during that day. Then I decided I would paint them. I learned that I am not quite the same artist painting from day to day.  Did I paint all the objects? Not yet.  Do I always remain mindful?  Not yet".
