Artist's Statement:

I have been working in warm glass for over twenty years, and for the past ten have been experimenting with incorporating photographic imagery and collage techniques in my work. I feel this allow unique opportunities for expressing connections. Some pieces try to create a sense of place; others are representative of my own experiences and tell my stories.

Traveling is often the inspiration for these pieces, and when the theme portals was proposed I immediately thought of this image of an old shuttered window taken in Venice. A mime from Florence seemed an ambiguous image to look in or out at, and is an image I often use in my work. You can choose your own interpretation – spiritual or playful.
