'9th Around Oregon Annual Exhibition,' October, 2011

Statement for '9th Around Oregon Annual Exhibition:'
The Appeel V belongs to my L&M&E&M project inspired in part by gracious Lissajous pendulum curves, geometric ideas of Möbius; and mathematical art of Escher. The project involves multi-plate prints in mixed techniques and post-printing plate manipulation, which results in 3D objects. It explores hidden tensions between ideal and real objects, and their imagery. I am taken by mesmerizing cool harmony and grace radiating from the objects. Truly, Lissajous & Möbius & Escher, the three together make a powerful source of inspiration. The project is in progress and includes a series of multi-plate 2D prints and 3D forms resulting from post-printing plate manipulation. Nontoxic intaglio techniques are applied.

Biography:

Danuta Muszynska is a native of Poland, where she graduated from the State College of Fine Arts and then received her M.A. degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan. For many years, her primary media were painting, drawing, and photography. In 1998, she moved to Maine, where she discovered her new passion: printmaking. In 1999-2004, she was studying non-toxic printmaking techniques with Elizabeth Dove and Susan Groce; bookmaking with Siri Beckman; and art of metal working with Heiki Seppa. Currently she lives and works in Oregon where she moved in 2004. Her works have been featured in more than 100 exhibitions throughout the U.S. and Canada, as well as in Cyprus, Denmark, Germany, Jordan, Poland, Northern Ireland, and in the United Kingdom.
