The Arts Center Globetrotters Arts & Culture Camp 2007

What a fabulous summer camp we’ve had!

Campers attended four half- or full-day week-long sessions focused on Africa, the Middle East, the Americas, and Southern Asia. They sculpted elephants, maracas, and Taj Mahals out of clay; painted and drew and collaged; wrote haiku and learned about endangered species and conservation. They cooked food from Ethiopia and experienced African drumming; performed a South African Boot Dance at da Vinci Days and explored virtual travel at the library; painted kolams on the sidewalks and practiced tradition South Indian dance and music. Browse the photo sampling of our campers in action below.

Thanks to our partners this summer: The Corvallis-Benton County Public Library; FASIS (Foundation for the Arts and Sciences of the Indian Sub-Continent); The Corvallis Environmental Center; the Multicultural Literacy Center; and First Alternative Coop.

Special thanks to Patrick McGee of Burst’s Candies, who welcomed campers for a tour of his chocolate factory during lunchtime, and to Wee Tree Farm for providing bonsai at a discounted price so campers could plant bonsai in the pots they created.
